POSITION PURPOSE
The Quality Specialist plays a multifaceted role in fostering positive relationships between our organization and healthcare providers. This position involves performing administrative duties and gathering data from providers for quality measures with a primary focus on language access and interpreter service data. The Quality Specialist must possess a combination of strong interpersonal skills, analytical abilities, and organizational proficiency to excel in this role. The Quality Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of our organization by fostering strong relationships with healthcare providers, monitoring service quality, and gathering data to support quality measures. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a passion for improving healthcare delivery and outcomes
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Language Access Program Support (Primary Focus)
- Collect language access data from providers and language service vendors via phone and email.
- Enter language access data into the Umpqua Health Business Intelligence (UHBI) Provider Portal accurately and in a timely manner.
- Respond to provider inquiries and support training related to language access data collection and reporting.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure training materials and guidance related to language access are clear, accurate, and aligned with program and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact for providers (especially teaching clinics) on improving language access data reporting and practices.
- Collect and enter quality measure data including but not limited to Social Determinants of Health (SDoH), prenatal and postpartum care, and Health Information Technology (HIT) survey data.
- Conduct provider outreach to support data collection for quality metrics and incentive programs through phone, email, and survey methods.
- Maintain accurate records and enter data into relevant healthcare databases.
- Track and fulfill quality-related incentive gift card programs; manage gift card inventory and mailing logistics.
- Monitor and compile responses from providers and members as needed.
- Build strong relationships with providers to promote understanding of UHA’s quality initiatives and deliver health promotion and quality improvement materials to provider offices in Douglas County.
- Partner with the Provider Relations team to maintain knowledge of the provider network and align outreach efforts.
- Collaborate with providers to address concerns or clarify expectations related to quality and data submission.
- Document communications and outreach activities consistently.
- Support the development of materials for provider meetings, such as slide decks or talking points.
- Contribute to Provider training efforts through webinars, workshops, and individualized guidance.
- Track tasks and communication updates with team and leadership.
- Working with a variety of personalities, maintaining a consistent and fair communication style.
- Satisfying the needs of a fast-paced and challenging company.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality improvement, provider relations, healthcare administration, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of healthcare operations, regulations, and industry trends.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
- Detailed oriented and organized.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Excel Proficiency as well as healthcare management software.
- Experience in conducting quality measure monitoring preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
- No suspension/exclusion/debarment from participation in federal health care programs (e.g. Medicare/Medicaid)
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office suite
- Experience considering the impacts of the work on multiple communities, including communities of color, in technical analysis.
- Experience working on a diverse team with different communication styles.
- Bi-lingual translation or translation capabilities a plus.
- No suspension/exclusion/debarment from participation in federal health care programs (e.g. Medicare/Medicaid)

- Ability to travel and drive to in-person meetings as required.
- May be exposed to patient and environment conditions such as unpleasant sights, smells and contagious diseases (clinic only).
