Accounting Specialist
To serve as support for the Company accounting processes. To develop, implement and/or maintain one or a combination of general accounting systems. Prepare journal entries and reconcile ledger accounts. Provides records of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions. May prepare federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate approval processes of all accounts payable invoices and participate in the weekly payment process.
- Distribute all financially related mail documents.
- Reviewing periodically during the month the general ledger for input accuracy and verifying that accounts have been reviewed for content.
- Responding to inquiries from management and department heads regarding expenses, budgets, etc.
- Reconcile inventory.
- Track fixed asset purchases and disposals. Report on personal property to Douglas County Assessor’s Office.
- Journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and analysis.
- Support finance department with payroll related functions.
- GL & financial statement support.
- Assist Controller and Staff Accountant with preparation of financial statements as needed.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality.
- Comply with organization’s internal policies and procedures, Code of Conduct, Compliance Plan, along with applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 2+ years of accounting experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
Strong verbal and written communication skills
No suspension, exclusion, or debarment from participation in federal healthcare programs (e.g., Medicare/Medicaid)
Preferred Qualifications
- Solid understanding of GAAP, accounting principles, practices, and systems
- Basic payroll experience
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience working on diverse teams and with varying communication styles
- Experience considering the impact of work on multiple communities, including communities of color, in technical analysis
- Bi-lingual translation or translation capabilities a plus
A typical office environment requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting to 25 plus pounds. May be exposed to patient and environmental conditions such as unpleasant sights, smells, and contagious diseases.
